PILOT/TRAFFIC ADVISORIES:

AT 0015/15APR12 THE SABINE PILOTS SUSPENDED SERVICE TO ALL INBOUND AND

OUTBOUND TRAFFIC DUE TO HIGH WINDS AND SEAS.  AT 1500/15APR12 THE SABINE

PILOTS RESUMED SERVICE TO “29/30” BUOYS.  SERVICE TO “SB” BUOY REMAINS

SUSPENDED AT THIS TIME.  THE PILOTS WILL ASSESS THE CONDITIONS AGAIN

AROUND 0900 HRS.

 

MAY 3RD – 6TH THE PORT NECHES RIVERFEST WILL BE TAKING PLACE

NEAR PORT NECHES PARK.  THERE WILL BE CHANNEL CLOSURES DURING

THE WEEKEND FOR BOAT RACES.  THE CLOSURE TIMES WILL BE ADVISED

AS THE EVENT GETS CLOSER.  THE TERMINALS AFFECTED BY THIS WILL

BE OILTANKING PORT NECHES, CHEVRON, SUN, OILTANKING BEAUMONT,

MARTIN, EXXONMOBIL AND THE PORT OF BEAUMONT.

USCG – clarification re salvage and marine firefighting

The US Coast Guard issued a clarification regarding its salvage and marine

firefighting requirements for vessel response plans (VRPs) for oil. On

September 3, the agency announced that the Office of Management and Budget

(OMB) had approved the collection of information associated with those

requirements. The announcement also indicated that the requirement would be

enforced beginning September 3. The Coast Guard has now clarified that the

information collection will be enforced as of February 22, 2011, when the

salvage and marine firefighting regulations come into force. 75 Fed. Reg.

55973 (September 15, 2010).

<span-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#5A5A5A">Cold front moving into Southeast Texas will be the focus for heavy rains and thunderstorms today. 

Disturbances riding along the front will kick off the rain and thunderstorms.  We could see as much as 2-4 inches of rain.<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#5A5A5A">

The frontal system is expected to stall out across SE Texas today and Tuesday, being the focal point for additional shower and thunderstorm activity.<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#5A5A5A">

By Wednesday the front washes out and we'll see clearing skies with lows in the upper 50's and highs into upper 70's.  A brief warm up before another front arrives Saturday morning.<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#5A5A5A">

Saturday morning we could see some scattered rain showers then dry the rest of the weekend with very comfortable temperatures. <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#5A5A5A">
