USCG – clarification re salvage and marine firefighting
The US Coast Guard issued a clarification regarding its salvage and marine
firefighting requirements for vessel response plans (VRPs) for oil. On
September 3, the agency announced that the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) had approved the collection of information associated with those
requirements. The announcement also indicated that the requirement would be
enforced beginning September 3. The Coast Guard has now clarified that the
information collection will be enforced as of February 22, 2011, when the
salvage and marine firefighting regulations come into force. 75 Fed. Reg.
55973 (September 15, 2010).

Forecast Discussion

Nice and mild for your Wednesday. Sunny skies with highs topping out in
the lower 70s today. Winds will blow from the North at 10-15 mph.

Thanksgiving looks mostly sunny and mild. Lows will be in the mid 40s with
afternoon highs in the mid 70s. Northeasterly winds early will turn
towards the southeast late as weak high pressure moves away.

Friday, breezy south to southeasterly winds will transport mostly cloudy
skies and high humidity back into Southeast Texas. Morning lows will be in
the mid 50s with afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday, a strong, Canadian cold front will sweep through Southeast Texas.
A 90% coverage of heavy rainfall is forecasted. Morning lows will be in
the mid 60s with afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday, sunny skies, gusty winds and much colder weather can be expected.
Morning lows will be in the upper 30s with afternoon highs in the middle
50s.

Monday, sunny skies and cool weather will continue. Morning lows will be
in the lower to middle 30s with afternoon highs possibly to 60.

Tuesday, another cold front will push through the area. Partly cloudy
skies are forecasted. Morning lows will be in the lower 40s with afternoon
highs in the mid 60s.

Triangle Tonight: Clear and cool. Low near: 47. Winds: N-NW 5-12 mph.
