USCG – clarification re salvage and marine firefighting
The US Coast Guard issued a clarification regarding its salvage and marine
firefighting requirements for vessel response plans (VRPs) for oil. On
September 3, the agency announced that the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) had approved the collection of information associated with those
requirements. The announcement also indicated that the requirement would be
enforced beginning September 3. The Coast Guard has now clarified that the
information collection will be enforced as of February 22, 2011, when the

Forecast Discussion

Today's cold front brings rain and thunderstorms with it....

Deep atmospheric moisture continues to stream into Southeast Texas thanks
to southerly winds off the Gulf of Mexico. A cold front will sweep through
Southeast Texas late this evening bringing an 80% coverage of rain and
thunderstorms. More than one inch of rain is likely with this front and
isolated severe weather is also possible.

Cooler weather is expected the rest of this week with the coldest
temperatures so far this Fall season Friday morning...in the mid 30s. High
pressure then moves off and southerly winds are expected by late Friday.
The weekend will be humid and breezy with isolated showers by Sunday. Rain
chances go back up to a 30% next Monday.
