USCG – clarification re salvage and marine firefighting
The US Coast Guard issued a clarification regarding its salvage and marine
firefighting requirements for vessel response plans (VRPs) for oil. On
September 3, the agency announced that the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) had approved the collection of information associated with those
requirements. The announcement also indicated that the requirement would be
enforced beginning September 3. The Coast Guard has now clarified that the
information collection will be enforced as of February 22, 2011, when the
salvage and marine firefighting regulations come into force. 75 Fed. Reg.

WEATHER

Little change in the forecast the next seven days...

A ridge of high pressure will continue over the area through Tuesday.
Wednesday and Thursday the ridge will break down. By Friday, the upper-
level ridge (or high) will rebuild over our area and stay through Monday of
next week.

During the next seven days, no records will be broken as far as afternoon
high temperatures. However, afternoon readings will be at least five
degrees above normal in the Triangle (mid-90's). The Lakes are expected to
be near the Century Mark each afternoon through the next seven days.

Rainfall is not expected the next seven days.

Beyond seven days, a tropical wave may affect the area on the 23rd. This
will hopefully bring a chance of badly-needed showers and thunderstorms to
the region.
